Human Interest Feature

Lionel Messi
2006-07 season Messi suffered a broken metatarsal playing against Real Zaragosa causing him to be out of the game for three months. He went back to Argentina to heal and once he was ready on his feet he went back to Spain to play for Barcelona. He started off as a second half sub again Racing Santander. On March Messi played in the El Clasico who was in top form making a hat-trick. He was the first player since Ivan Zamorano made a hat-trick for Real Madrid in the 1994-95 season in the El Clasico. Messi is the youngest player to score in that fixture. He proved to everyone that the tag " the new Maradona" was not just a fling by making Maradonas most famous goals in just a short time. He scored 2 goals against Cope del Rey and one of them was very similar to Maradons famous goal against England at the 1986 World Cup. Then later in a game against Espanyol, Messi made the famous 'hand of god' goal made by the famous Maradona. It was so amazingly similar to the original goal, he launched his body over the ball shooting and using his hand to guide the ball over the goalies head. Many spanish players protested saying it was a handball, but the goal stood. Messis team-mate Deco said "It it the best goal i have ever seen in my life". Messi is a remarkable player with remarkable skills and he is proving to everyone that he is as great as people say about him.
